Personally, I find Richard Avedon's unique approach to portraiture really inspires me. Specifically how he emphasizes the raw, unfiltered essence of his subjects (something I am not used to doing, but would like to perfect). He really captures not just their physical appearance but their emotional depth and individuality within a photo. He creates very striking and aesthetic, high-contrast images against minimalistic/plain backgrounds, I think this really allows the viewer to focus entirely on the subject, revealing a sense of vulnerability.
Avedon has a very unique style, this could be because of his fashion photography background. He challenged the conventional norms at the time and really encouraged viewers like me to dive deep into the context of the overall human experience. I hope to showcase Avedon’s fearless exploration of identity and emotion within my own works, where I am able portray authenticity in my future creative endeavours.
